Radiant Shadows Review

Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr

Summary:

Hunger for nourishment.

Hunger for touch.

Hunger to belong.

Half-human and half-faery, Ani is driven by her hungers.
Those same appetites also attract powerful enemies and uncertain allies, including Devlin. He was created as an assassin and is brother to the faeries’ coolly logical High Queen and to her chaotic twin, the embodiment of War. Devlin wants to keep Ani safe from his sisters, knowing that if he fails, he will be the instrument of Ani’s death.

Ani isn’t one to be guarded while others fight battles for her, though. She has the courage to protect herself and the ability to alter Devlin’s plans—and his life. The two are drawn together, each with reason to fear the other and to fear for one another. But as they grow closer, a larger threat imperils the whole of Faerie. Will saving the faery realm mean losing each other?

Alluring romance, heart-stopping danger, and sinister intrigue combine in Melissa Marr’s next volume of Melissa Marr’s New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series.

My Review:

This is by far my absolute favorite book from the Wicked Lovely series!  I loved Ani's character soooo much!  I loved her quirky little growls and how she doesn't give in to fear, she faces it.  The story revolves around three characters: Ani, Devlin (Sorcha's brother/son/assassin), and Rae (a.k.a. Katherine Rae O'Flaherty, a  human dreamwalker hidden in the faerie realm).

All Ani wants to do is be accepted into The Pack, but because she is a halfling she will only ever be Gabriel's pup, nothing more.  She feeds her hunger with mortals' touch and emotions, yet that isn't strong enough. When she tries with other faeries the most she will get is a few measly emotions because they all know not to touch Gabriel's daughter.  She yearns for more, but will she get it?

Devlin has spent his entire life serving Sorcha as an assassin and easing the burden that is Bananach, but he disobeys a single order and his fate takes a change in course.  He soon finds himself hiding things from Sorcha and that she is keeping things from him as well.  Will he be able to find the right path or is it too late?

When Rae first wakes up in the faerie realm, she thinks it is all a dream.  But soon after she realizes that she is in a powerful place and that she has the ability to dreamwalk.  Through a chance encounter she learns of two fates, one of death and the other of a possible future that could change the world.  Will she be able to guide the course of fate in the right direction?

This book took my breath away and left me with a hunger, not unlike Ani's, for the next book in the series.  It was filled with danger and secrets as well as drama and love.  I reccomend it to all!!! Enjoy!
